What Mexico Taught Me About Mandalas, Colour… and Partying Like a Legend part 2)

Stephen Montgomery

Here's part 2, enjoy.

5. Strength Isn’t Always Loud — But It’s Always Present

Mexicans are tough. Not just physically — though I wouldn’t recommend going toe-to-toe with a Mexican man on a tequila night — but emotionally. The women, especially, have this fierce, rebellious strength. They’re assertive, vocal, and will absolutely not be messed with.

And honestly? That’s what making a mandala should feel like too. It’s not all zen and floating on clouds — it’s about channeling your emotions, your experiences — the dark stuff, the light stuff — and putting it into your art.

Lesson learned? True creativity doesn’t come from calm — it comes from courage.

The Mandala Experience Meets Mexico

So what does all this mean for The Mandala Experience?

It means I’m bringing a  little bit of Mexico into what we do — the boldness of their colour, the symbolism of their calendars, the fire of their passion, and the unshakable strength of their people.

When you are able to pick up one of our kits, you’re not just getting paint and plywood — you’re getting a ticket to create something deeply personal, wildly colourful, and unashamedly you.

So, look forward to grabbing your brush, picking your colours like a Mayan priest choosing a god for the day, and go for it. Passionately, loudly, and with a touch of that Mexican magic.

Because creativity — like a good Mexican party — isn’t something you dip your toe into.

You jump in. Feet first.

And just a heads up — I’m off to Egypt in a few months.

So brace yourself for what I’ll be like when I get back from that historically ancient, mind-blowingly colorful place. If Mexico taught me how to party with passion, I can only imagine Egypt will have me seeing the world in hieroglyphs and gold leaf.

Expect pyramids, pharaohs, and probably a whole new set of mandala inspirations — because creativity, like travel, only ever adds to the story.
