The Learning Curve Diaries, Part 1 – Social Media: Respawned and Ready
Stephen MontgomeryShare
If there’s one thing they don’t tell you about starting your own business, it’s this: at some point, you’re going to have to face social media. For some people, this might sound exciting. For me, it felt like dusting off an ancient relic from a bygone age. The last time I posted anything online, it was either a Facebook rant about Linkin Park (sorry, not sorry) or a speed run of Sonic the Hedgehog on YouTube. Now? I’m expected to post about mandalas, laser cutters, and bespoke coffee stirrers. What a plot twist.
The Social Media Time Machine
Re-entering the world of social media after a billion years feels like walking into a party where you don’t know anyone and everyone speaks a slightly different language. What even is X? Isn’t that just Twitter with a costume change? Why does Facebook want to know my life story before I can set up a page? And don’t get me started on hashtags. The last time I used a hashtag, it was probably in the wrong context, and someone told me to stop embarrassing myself.
But hey, I’m an online gamer. I’ve faced tougher challenges. If I can handle VR zombies, surely I can figure out how to make a Facebook post without accidentally tagging my aunt. Right?
Ruff Kutts Goes Digital
So here we are: Ruff Kutts is officially on social media. I’ve got accounts on X and Facebook, and I’m setting up a shiny new YouTube channel for showcasing one-off and limited-run creations. (If nothing else, I’ll finally get some use out of my video editing skills. Thanks, Sonic speed runs!)
My goal? To bring the world of Ruff Kutts to life online. Whether it’s posting about the meditative power of mandalas, sharing a behind-the-scenes look at laser cutting, or dropping snarky captions about cheeky plaques, I want these accounts to feel like an extension of what makes Ruff Kutts unique.
Post and Pray
Here’s the plan: Post, follow, repeat, and hope for the best. I’ll be posting updates about new products, sharing stories from The Learning Curve Diaries, and uploading videos of the cool stuff I’m making. If people love it, great. If they don’t, well, at least I’ll have some fun with hashtags.
So, if you’re reading this and you’re on X or Facebook, come find Ruff Kutts. Follow along, share your thoughts, and let’s build something amazing together. Because honestly? Social media might be terrifying, but it’s a lot more fun when you’ve got good people along for the ride.
Next Time on The Learning Curve Diaries
Will I figure out how to make evocative product descriptions for everything in the store? Will I ever finish uploading all those product photos? Will I finally have that cup of coffee? Stay tuned for more chaos, creativity, and caffeine-fueled ramblings.
